Lonely poet
living in his verses.
At times he step out
onto the wet streets
when the rain soughs.
No, he is not crying,
it’s raindrops
running down his face.
(Yes, bittersweet moments, conflicting emotions )
(Short ode) In response to Day 5: Map, Ode, Metaphor
Writing 201: Poetry!
An ode is a laudatory poem celebrating a person, an object, a place, etc.
In the past, odes followed strict formal requirements — like the (Greek) Pindaric ode or the (Latin) Horatian ode. These days (and for quite some time), odes can come in all forms and sizes — it’s the subject matter that tends to distinguish a poem as an ode.
This is beautiful, especially the first stanza. It’s so vivid.
