Thassos island

Thasos or Thassos is a Greek island, North Aegean Sea. The eastern part of the island is mountainous and rocky with high cliffs over the sea surface. Beautiful greenery, forests with firs, oaks, pine trees. The western part of the island has lower altitude is full of olive trees. On Thassos, the olive tree is considered a blessed tree. Olive oil, honey, tsipouro (resembles ouzo). Stone houses, castle ruins and caves, marble. Since ancient times, the Thassians constructed most of their buildings with marble from the island.

My son took some wonderful photos for me with his phone on his vacation this August.

I am so happy to share these with you. Many thanks for liking 🙂

  1. I travelled many years ago and the photos seem so familiar to me. Were they taken from a high level monastery or is it my memory playing tricks? I certainly remember tsipouro though.

    • You remember well, it’s Monastery of the Archangel Michael most well-known due to its location with beautiful view of the Aegean Sea.
