Blue Moon

“Once in a blue moon…” This month, there was a full moon on July 1 and tonight, the last day of July, there’s another. Get ready for a very rare event tonight – a blue moon. Blue Moon is when there are 2 full moons in one Month. A full moon occurs roughly every 29.5 days and on the rare occasions when the full moon falls at the very beginning of a month there is a good chance a Blue Moon will occur at the end of the month. According to this definition the blue moon will occur on July 31, 2015. What most call a Blue Moon isn’t blue in color. It’s only Blue in name. A blue-colored moon is rare. An older definition of Blue Moon is that it’s the third of four full moons in a single season. Someday, you might see an actual blue-colored moon.
